Hey guys,
Not a whole lot new here today, just keeping an eye on the cows as calving is in full swing now, and I think some of the guys may be going out grain cleaning sometime today, not really sure on that one.
This past weekend Dad, Cora and Andrew went up to Minot for the NDGOP convention, leaving Mom and I here at home to keep an eye on the cows. We had a few problems, but the weather was warm, so it wasn't bad...
On Friday, Dad, Cora, Andrew and I went over to Jamestown to go to the ORR consignment auction, and ended up bringing home a 2010 Bobcat S160, and dad bought a grain trailer as well! :)
Other than that, we've just been busy trying to get ready for grain cleaning and planting seasons, so we haven't been too bored here, lol. Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

A Couple Of Green And Yellow Packages To Arrive Today!
Hey guys,
Last Friday and Saturday Mom, Cora, Andrew and I all went to Jamestown to attend the NDHSA home educators conference. I wasn't all that interested in it, but did manage to have a good time with friends while I was there. You can check out some of my siblings blogs for more info and pictures...
In other news, Mom and Dad have set the date for my graduation! Apparently I'm going to have to give a speech and all that good stuff, so if you want to come get a free meal and a good laugh at a nervous speech giver, you're more than welcome...
On a different note, the air drill that Dad bought should be arriving on the farm today, hence the post title... :P Spring is coming very soon so I guess it would be helpful to have a seed drill to plant with... :P
Anyway, other than that, we haven't really been doing much, calving hasn't started yet but we are getting close, and the guys have been getting their grain cleaners ready to go as well, so the busy season will soon be here...
Anyway, until next time, Jacob B.

Another new delivery! :D
Hey guys,
Yesterday, mom and I had to deal with a new calf that was born in the mud, so we washed him off and fed him some milk and he's doing better now and is out in the pasture. :) Their talking warmer weather so hopefully the calves will be doing better soon! :)
Also yesterday, our new (used) corn planter got delivered to the farm! I was the only guy home at the time so I had the fun of getting the tractor ready for it and all that good stuff, lol. Let's hope it works good in the days to come.
The guys have been grain cleaning, but Andrew's not feeling very well this morning so he's asleep in bed... :( The snow's been melting off ever so slowly and now we've got mud pits in the yard... >.<
Kind of running out of things to write about, ( as normal) so I'll post a picture and call it good for now :) Anyway, talk to you all later, Jacob B.

New arival on the farm.
Hey guys,
It's been a while sence I've wrote you all, and over that time we've had a blizzard, cold weather, new calves... Yeah, more of the same... This last weekend has been kinda crazy, mom was in town for a convention on Thursday and Friday.
Then Andrew left for a 1 day Appleseed shoot at Minot on Saturday, and Cora was at a get together for girls up in the turtle mountains someplace from Friday and she's getting home tonight...
On Saturday a big yellow and black Rogater 854 sprayer arrived on our farm, and us guys have been working on that the past few days, mounting our GPS and trying to get it ready for spring application time.
We're also expecting our new (used) corn planter to show up this week sometime, so if it ever warms up and melts the snow off here we'll be getting ready to hit the fields! :) Well, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Flying! :D
Hey guys,
So it's been a little while sense I've wrote, so in that time we've had more calves born, got 5 of em on the ground I think, also had a cow with a prolapse last night so we had the vet come and sew her back up again... Yeah, that wasn't fun...
Two days ago, mom was doing a session on a guy and everybody else was outside when mom came out and said "Hey Jacob, wanna go on a airplane ride?" Well, after making sure I heard her right, Andrew and I drove to Napoleon and got rides. :)
The coolest thing we did on the flight was I got to experience zero, and actually negative gravity! It was pretty fun watching the dust levitate towards the ceiling... :P We flew around for about 20 minutes, flew over our farm and everything. :)
Also during the time sense I last wrote, Dad and I went over to a CIH dealer in Wishek for parts, the BEK guys came and hooked up our fiber so now we got lots faster Internet, I bought a new graphics card for my PC (amazing deference in strength from my old one) and that's about it. :)
I'll talk to you all later, probably not as often as we're getting into farming season again. :) Jacob B.

A calf and more news
Hey guys,
Not a whole lot new here today, outside of one of my heifers was having trouble calving this morning so we got her in the barn, attempted to move her to another barn failed, took her back to the same barn, and then pulled the calf that was DOA... -_-
Other then that bit of fun, Mom; Cora; and Andrew just got back from the Homeschool convention last night. They said they had a lot of fun at the convention this year again...
Other then that there really isn't much new around here, outside of a bit of snow that this nasty storm blew in... Have to love a nice 35 MPH wind on a cold day... >.< Yeah, that's North Dakota for you, always a storm...
So yeah, right now Dad is working on tax work, Mom is doing a session or sleeping (or both), Cora is babysitting, Andrew is playing World of Tanks, and I was too but Mom told me to get to school sooo... :P Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

The Farm is Changing...
Hey guys,
Not a whole lot going on here, I got my Land Rover in the shop this morning to investigate a few things, and we also loaded out a load of wheat this morning, as we sold a couple loads a while ago... :)
Over lunch today Dad and Mom got into a bit of a discussion about what we're going to be doing on the farm this coming growing year, and what I had suspected for a while was definitely confirmed. We are leaving organics this year.
That's right, leaving organics. Personally I think Dad is doing the right thing, we definitely need to change something big in our operation, this sure isn't working... We have been watching Arden Anderson's course on biological farming, so we are going to try to go that way eventually...
So yeah, people here are going to be getting the farming itch again soon, as all the snow is leaving. Personally I wouldn't mind if the snow would stay on for another half month or so, but nature must take it's course. Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

randomness...
Hey guys,
Not much new here today, Andrew and Mom went up to Bismarck for some committe hearings of bills going through the legislature, Cora's babysitting, Dad's feeding cows, and I'm doing my school... :/
Mom, Cora and a freind are going to go to a self defense class in Bismarck tonight, and throug Sunday I think. They claim some pretty impressive moves, so we'll have a nice rough'n'tumble match afterwards. :P (just kiddin)
Andrew got his pickup back from the body shop the other day, looks just fine again. :) I just realized that at this stage, I just start randomly rambling and saying stuff just for a filler, lol. I guess I'm not a writer...
Anyway, kind of looking forward to spring and farming again. I kind of get bored over the winter... :/ Well, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Snow!
Hey guys,
Not much new going on around here, outside of Andrew importing some of our Uncle Rick's music collection... :P He's working on 1 of his 3 CD cases that are about 5' long and about 2 feet wide, and all full of good ol 60's and 70's music. :)
Today, Dad and Mom went up to Bismarck, as Mom had a session to do, and Dad needed to do some more loan paperwork; Cora went babysitting, Andrew just got home from hauling a load of hay home, and I'm working on my school work, and goofing off.. :P
Yesterday, Dad and I went over to our rented land over by Hazleton to get a load of hay home; and then after we got home at about 1:15, Dad; Andrew; and I went out and loaded up 2 cows to take to the butcher shop.
After we got them loaded up, Andrew and I messed around on the quads in the snow for a little bit, and after that, the rest of the day was kind of uneventful. Well, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

AS:HF screens and farm news
Hey guys, long time no see! ;)
I've been busy working on getting the hay crop put up, or at least whats there to put up, so thats why I havn't posted in a long time... :P Unfortunatly, we've only been getting a bit less then half of the hay crop of normal this year... :(
We've got the 1st cut almost done, we just have to stack up the few bales on a little part of the last field, but the tractor decided it had to break on us before we could finish that up, so we are currently stoped with bale stacking and carting... :(
So during the time that I havn't written, Andrew's bought and sold some vehicles, Cora's done a lot of babysitting, Mom worked on a lot of clients, Dad baled a lot of hay, and I've cut hay along with Andrew, and a lot more happend as well, that I dont have time to write about now... :P
Anyways, as promised, here's a few pictures from my latest game. :)

Seeding is done, and other news... :P
Hey guys,
Yes, it's been a long time sense I've wrote on here, but we've all been busy getting our seeding done, and all sorts of other stuff... ;) One of the major things that just happened here, was Andrew left for South Dakota to help in the Ron Paul campaign down there...
As you may have guessed, there was a new farming simulation game coming out soon, all about historical farming in the 50s-70s. Well, it just got released on the 25th, but I ordered mine on disc, so now I'm waiting 3 weeks for shipping....... :(:(
Yeaaaaa, that's kind of annoying, but in that time, they can work more bugs out... Anyways, we are getting ready for haying, and we should start laying some hay down in about a week, or maybe even less! As I write, Dad's getting ready to put the baler in the shop... ;)
Also, Mom's doing a session on the phone, Cora's babysitting, Andrew's down in South Dakota making phone calls, and I'm writing to you all... :P Time for me to go again, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B. ;)

Seeding is Starting Again!
Hey guys,
Field season is underway now, and the neighbors were actually seeding yesterday, and I would assume that they would still be going at it today... I was spreading some muck yesterday as well, and we have been getting the vibrashank fixed up, so we are gonna get rolling pretty quick too! :D
On a different note, my 3rd blogaversary is coming up on the 27th of this month, and yes, I am planning a giveaway, so keep your eyes on this spot... ;) I may be too busy to get to the giveaway right away, but I am planning something... ;)
Grain cleaning season is getting close to finished, so it's nice to have the guys home for a change! ;) I don't know what the guys are up to right now, but I would assume they are either working on the vibrashank, or the greenhouse roof... (Cora had Andrew pick up some supplies yesterday in Bismarck...)
Ok, in my last post, I mentioned about a new farming simulation game. OK, it will be set in the time of the 50s through the 70s! (one of my favorite time periods...) It's looking really good so far, with an amazing feature, dynamic terrain! :D
Dynamic terrain means that when you plow, it leaves a furrow like in real life! :D Also, with this feature, I hear that you will be able to get stuck...! Here is a video of this feature. Please ignore the German text. (it will be released in English when they are done, but its made in Switzerland...)
^^ :D:D:D :P Well, I gotta get going, so I'll TTYL. ;) (Talk To You Later)

BOO! :P
Hey guys,
Sorry I haven't written in so long, but we are getting busy with our spring work... Dad and Andrew are working helter-skelter on grain cleaning, this week especially, as everybody wants their grain cleaned yesterday... :P
Mom and I have broken out the disc and worked a few of the fields up around the farmstead here, to try to kill the weeds that got such a head start last year. We will be working the fields several times before we plant them...
We are starting to get some baby calves now, so that is keeping us busy as well. One of my cows had twins, so now I have a little bottle calf, as the mom didn't have enough milk... :( Andrew picked up another car to work on a few days ago as well... *shakes head* :P
I bought a new toy too. :D It is a Nintendo 3DS. I bought it, because Farming Simulator is coming to it, so now I can take Farming Sim on the road with me! :D:D Also, there are 2 new farming games in development by the makers of Agricultural Simulator 2012! :D I'll tell you about them later though. ;)
I have to go now, so I'll talk to you all later;)

Fencing work...
Hey guys!
I was having some "fun" this afternoon... I went around the pasture fence today, getting the electric fence working again, as spring is almost here, and the cows are getting restless... There were enough bad spots to keep me busy... ;) It wasn't fun working in the rain though...
Today was our local farm machine dealer's customer appreciation day, so Dad and I went down there, bought some stuff, and got a free meal! :D After that, I came home and started working on the fence project....
This morning, Andrew went down to Elendale to continue cleaning grain down there; Cora went baby sitting again; Mom wasn't feeling very good, so she laid in bed for a while; and Dad and I worked on finishing up Dad's grain cleaner.
Yesterday, Andrew and I started work on Cora's 2004 Dodge Stratus that she bought to have Andrew fix up... Yeah, long story, but the engine is in bad shape right now... I have the feeling that it will be sitting for a while too, now that we are in farming season again.;)
Time to go again, Jacob B;)

Vehicle buying spree!
Hi guys.
The last week was really interesting, especaily to me... :D The reason for that is..... I bought a pickup! :D Off hand, I don't have any pictures of it, but I will try to get you all some soon. ;) It is a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, very similar to Andrew's really, just 2 years older. :)
I bought that on Thursday, knowing that I would have to work on it... On Friday, Dad; Andrew; and Cora went down to Selby SD to pick up a 2004 Dodge Stratus for Cora, as she needs a vehicle to drive to work, now that her van got sold...
Yesterday, Andrew went up to Dawson to pick up another Dodge Intrepid, this one is a 2001 model. This one might just be for parts, or it might end up being fixed. Don't know yet... I have been working on my school work some today as well... :(
Later today. I just got in from chores, and I had been helping Andrew work on his stratus most of the afternoon. We made pretty good progress today on that project. Well, dinner will be ready in a little bit now, so I am off again.
See ya later, Jacob. :D

News of the week. ;)
Hi guys,
It's been quite a while since I've written, but I have been busy around here... Over the past week, we have been doing a lot of tax work, and I've been doing school, and all sorts of other stuff, like doing chores in the nasty blizzard that came through here!
Well, I've seen a lot worse blizzards, but it was a severe turn towards the nasty side from the nice winter we've been having. ;) But the good side is that we now have plenty of snow to snowmobile... :D Also, Hrystiayan, if your wondering, I am still waiting for my dirt bike part to come... >:(
Last Wednesday, we all suited up, and brought all of the cows into the lot, and sorted all of the stray calves off. Then, we got the rest of the calves moved over to a different pen, and then we hauled them all into town to the salesbarn.
We got a very good price for the calves this year, so we are very happy about that! I saved back 2 heifers, and sold 2 steers, and I got $1,900 bucks! :D:D That money will go into more cows, by the way. ;) Anyway, I see it is time to go again, so I will talk to you all later.
Jacob B. ;)

:D:D That money will go into more cows, by the way. ;) Anyway, I see it is time to go again, so I will talk to you all later.

crazy days
Hi guys,
On Friday, Cora had a very unexpected event happen to her on her way to work in town. She was driving down the road, and she saw a couple of deer starting to cross the road, so she braked hard, but she still hit the one, sending him flying into the ditch!
The deer wasn't in the ditch later on, so it must still be alive, but the van is in sorry shape right now. When it hit, it pushed back the whole front end, crunching the front quarter panel and hood, the right headlight got mashed, and the radiator is bad now. Cora is going to sell the van for $750 to somebody who needs the tranny.
Also on Friday, Andrew and Dad went up to Minot to buy another car to fix up... But this time, Andrew bought a brand new car trailer to haul his cars on! The new project is a 2002 Dodge Stratus with a bad head gasket...
This morning, Dad got up early and went on the road with the grain cleaner and went up to Harvey to clean some dirty grain for the flour mill up there; Mom is exercising; Cora went baby sitting; Andrew just got a package in the mail, and I'm working on school, and talking with my buddy. :D
Time to go again, Jacob B.

Our News...
Hi guys,
Today, Mom is working with a couple of clients; Cora is out doing goat chores; Dad is out doing cow chores; Andrew is messing around with some video stuff; and I'm getting started on my school for the week again.....
Last Friday, Dad; Andrew; and I got the second grain cleaner home, so no more running over 100 miles to go work in a very dusty grain elevator. YAY!! :D Now we just go about 100 yards to the shop and put them all back together again... ;)
On Thursday, O got my dirt bike fixed up most of the way, and now, I am just waiting for parts to come... When you kick the engine over now, it has a more distinct wump to it. :P I think that if my part were here, I would already have driven it. ;)
On Saturday night, Andrew and I got a very nice, and somewhat unexpected, surprise! It was the very nice gift of $250 to Andrew, and $200 to me, for our work on the grain cleaners. Thank you Dad and Mom! ;) Well, time to go again, so I will see you all later.

an update
Hi guys,
We've been keeping busy with everything under the sun, so that's why I haven't been writing lately... Two days ago, very early in the morning, (about 5:00) Dad and Mom got up and went on the roads to go to the Northern Plains Sustainable Agriculture annual conference.
Yesterday, Andrew got up early in the morning, did his chores, and went on the roads to Minot, to go to an Appleseed shoot up there, as he is an Instructor In Training, or IIT for short. ;) Dad; Mom; and Andrew all got home last night, and Cora and I stayed home to do the chores.
Over the past week, we have been working on taking apart two grain cleaners and moving them home from an elevator over by Spiritwood, which is about 100 miles from here. One is just like three other ones that we have, and the other is a shaker mill like the one we took out of the Kintyre elevator.
We currently have the first one home, (in a bunch of little pieces, so that we could get it out the door,) and we are just getting started on the other one, which shouldn't take as long as the first one... Anyway, that's what we've been up to. ;)
Gotta go, Jacob. (almost typed my LS-UK user name, NDFarmer) :D

Heat Wave!
Hi guys,
Two days ago, everyone, except Cora who worked in town, weaned the calves off of the cows and moved them over into a pen away from their mothers. And the result is excessive mooing from all of the cows day in and day out...
The weather has been absolutely amazing for January here the past couple of days. Yesterday it got up to fifty some-odd degrees here! And, we still have not had any lasting snow here either, which is a bit of a shame, seeing how I might be buying a snowmobile! :D
That's right, I might, just might, be buying a cheap snowmobile! But I won't excite you any more than I already have, just in case it doesn't work out, and partly because I like making you wonder what it might be..... :-) :P
Anyway, this morning, Andrew went to Bismarck in his '08 Dodge Charger that he got working; Dad worked around here for a while, then went to Napoleon; Cora did stuff in the house, and Mom and I worked on my school. :S
