A German Composer...

Hey guys,
So Andrew read Mom a list of German composers, and thus mom figured I should write a entire post about one, so here goes...  For my post, I decided to research Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  This info will be from the Wikipedia article on him.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart  27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), baptised as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart,[2] was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era.

He composed over 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence on subsequent Western art music is profound; Beethoven composed his own early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote that "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years."

Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, he was engaged as a court musician in Salzburg, but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position, always composing abundantly. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position.

He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death. The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons.

This was just a very brief overview of Mozart, if you want full information, here's the link to the full Wikipedia article.  Hope you all didn't get too bored, I'll catch you next time.

New News:)

Hey guys,
There isn't much new going on around here today, the guys are out in the shop working on our feed truck that we bought at an auction sale earlier this year, Mom is doing a session, Cora is playing on her piano, and I'm doing my school work...

It has been very cold here over the past few days, with wind chills down to -30 I think, I'm not sure, all I know is it wasn't nice outside...  The thermometer says it's all the way up to 3 degrees now though, so I think I'll go sunbathe...... :P

I rode my snowmobile twice already, and it is very powerful!  Andrew has also found a snowmobile he is probably going to buy, so we're going to be doing some riding (maybe a little bit of brother vs. brother ice racing too:P) this winter. :)

For our history in school, Mom and I are watching several documentaries about World War 2, seeing how I've gotten interested in the history of that war over the past year.  It is some very interesting material!

Please pray for some nice warm weather for us so we can get our calves worked and weaned, as that still has to get done yet...  Anyway, have a nice day everybody, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B. :)

My new tank!

Hey guys,
So during the Black Friday sale for World of Tanks, I decided to pick myself up a KV-5! (click here for full technical details of the ingame machine)  Mom decided it would be a good topic for a blog post so here goes. :)

The main reason why I wanted this particular tank was because I had been told that it made LOTS of credits, more then other tier 8 premium tanks, and that sounded very tempting, another reason, it has the most hit points of all the tier 8 heavies as far as I know.

The gun is pretty bad, but it will do pretty decent damage when you penetrate.  The armor is good, but its loaded with weak spots.  However, there's more then just 1 way to deal damage in this game... :P

This tank is literally MADE for ramming.  It weighs *gasp* 100 metric tons *gasp* and when going downhill can get up to 40 kilometers per hour. even on normal ground it will move fairly well though, because it has a 1200 HP engine... O.O

I don't really like the fact that the tank is as big as a barn, but hey, when you have 280 more HP then the next best tier 8 heavy, you kinda expect it to be big...  So far I like the tank, I don't always do the best in it, but it's fun nonetheless.

Here's a goodbye picture of my new beast. :)

I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B. :)

School is back in session... -_-

Hey guys,
So Mom has officially started school now, so you all can expect a wall of text from me most every week day for a while now...  I'll at least try to keep it interesting to read if at all possible... :P

So yesterday Dad; Andrew and I worked on cleaning out a little hopper bin and grinding some grain into ground feed for the milk cow and other animals, and putting it in said bin that we cleaned out...
That kept us busy most of the day, Mom went to town and Cora stayed home and worked around the house.

We are finished with our corn harvest thankfully, we got a lot of it in bins, took several truck loads to town and have a pile on the ground as well.  We're busy getting stuff ready for winter, we got the cows moved home as well, but they still have to be sorted and worked...

Andrew has been working on repairing more vehicles in his spare time, along with harvesting a neighbor's crop as well, but stuff has started to slow down a little bit, so I'm sure we'll be working on winter vehicle projects again this year... :)

I still play World of Tanks a lot in my spare time, if anybody else plays WoT, give me a comment, maybe we could platoon sometime! :)  Anyways, I'll talk to you all later, have a good day.

Birthday!

Hey guys,
Yesterday I turned 18 years old! I had a pretty good day driving around the state with Mom, doing a little bit of shopping in Bismarck, and at home with the family. :)  Thanks for the great time everyone. :)

Right away in the morning Mom and I took off to go to the tiny little town of Zap to look at a dirt bike I was planning on buying.  Well when we got there it wasn't what I was told it was, so we just turned right around and headed back towards home.

When we got to Bismarck, Mom took me out for lunch, then we picked up the injection pump for the combine which we were having worked on, and then we went to the powersports dealer and I gave myself a birthday present of a new snowmobile helmet and goggles for the season... :)

Then we went shopping and bought a nice leather coat for me, and then went home. :)  When we got home, Cora had made home made pizza so we had a great supper! :)  I'll let you know what gifts I got later, but I'll just say one of my gifts was a toothpick... ;)

Until next time, Jacob B. :)

Ramble Ramble...

Hey guys,
Not much going on today, so Mom has me doing school work while she's up in Bismarck doing sessions, so here goes another post... :P  I'll try not to bore you all to death... :P

Anyway, Cora and Andrew left on Friday to go visit some friends and help them out with their corn maze!  They should be coming home sometime today, so lets hope the roads are good for them. :)

It's raining outside again, we've gotten pretty wet here over the past week, which is being a real problem with people wanting to harvest, but I guess I'd rather have rain for next year then no moisture...

So yeah, we've pretty much been waiting for it to dry down and it decided it didn't want to dry down... -_-  Anyway, I'll probably be writing more here in the near future, so I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B. :)

It's wet!

Hey guys,
So it's been a while sense I've written you all again, I've been keeping busy in the shop and a little bit of school work with a good bit of goofing off mixed in as well... :P  I do think mom wants me to get to school soon though so we might as well get this last year over with...

Two Friday's ago, Mom, Andrew and I went down to Rapid City to attend a class and a expo.  We all had a good time and even went to see Mount Rushmore one night, and stopped into Wall Drug on the way home! :)

Other then that, it's been pretty much just waiting for the corn to dry down enough to harvest, we we're thinking we could get going this week sometime but then it rained over the weekend so the harvest has been pushed back some...

On another note, I may be looking into buying a classic car.  I'm not sure what I want to do about that yet, but I'll let you all know when I know... :P  Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B! :)

Long Time No Write. Again.

Hey guys,
So I haven't written anything in quite a while as I've been very busy, along with everyone else in our family, and I don't really like to write, but Mom's starting to think about school, so yeah, here starts the last year of that fun... lol

Anyway, over the past summer, us guys spent a lot of time going through the 9600 combine we bought last winter at an auction sale, we bought a backhoe attachment at an auction sale and are currently working on some of the hydraulics on that and are going to fit it on a 9030 when it's done.

I finished fixing up my snowmobile earlier this spring, (put the pistons in the wrong way the first time, *ultimate facepalm*) and now it runs great!  Due to no rain since July (we just finally got some this week) our corn crop has really suffered this year, but it's still hanging in there...

The alfalfa crop never came back for it's 2nd cutting, because of no rain again, so another tough hay year. :/  And that's pretty been my year in a nutshell, could say a lot more but don't feel like it, so I'll say goodbye for now, Jacob B. :)

Spring update:)

Hey guys,
It's been a while sense I've written anything on here, and mom told me to do another post, so here goes...  Seeding went well this year, put everything that wasn't hay into corn, and we got most of it in before the rains came so that was nice.

We've been trying to get our spraying done, but it keeps raining and blowing so that's been kind of tough.  I got my sled back from the dealer the other day, and I have the engine all apart fixing that up again as well... :)

We hosted a Appleseed shoot last Friday and Saturday, had a pretty good turnout, even with the rainstorm at the end of the first day...  I've been playing World of Tanks a good bit in my spare time as well... :)

And that's about all of the major news that I can think of right now, we've all been keeping busy and getting stuff done... :P  Anyway, talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Another new delivery! :D

Hey guys,
Yesterday, mom and I had to deal with a new calf that was born in the mud, so we washed him off and fed him some milk and he's doing better now and is out in the pasture. :)  Their talking warmer weather so hopefully the calves will be doing better soon! :)

Also yesterday, our new (used) corn planter got delivered to the farm!  I was the only guy home at the time so I had the fun of getting the tractor ready for it and all that good stuff, lol.  Let's hope it works good in the days to come.

The guys have been grain cleaning, but Andrew's not feeling very well this morning so he's asleep in bed... :(  The snow's been melting off ever so slowly and now we've got mud pits in the yard... >.<

Kind of running out of things to write about, ( as normal) so I'll post a picture and call it good for now :)  Anyway, talk to you all later, Jacob B.

The new machine :)

New arival on the farm.

Hey guys,
It's been a while sence I've wrote you all, and over that time we've had a blizzard, cold weather, new calves...  Yeah, more of the same...  This last weekend has been kinda crazy, mom was in town for a convention on Thursday and Friday.

Then Andrew left for a 1 day Appleseed shoot at Minot on Saturday, and Cora was at a get together for girls up in the turtle mountains someplace from Friday and she's getting home tonight...

On Saturday a big yellow and black Rogater 854 sprayer arrived on our farm, and us guys have been working on that the past few days, mounting our GPS and trying to get it ready for spring application time.

We're also expecting our new (used) corn planter to show up this week sometime, so if it ever warms up and melts the snow off here we'll be getting ready to hit the fields! :)  Well, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Snow? Really?

Hey guys,
So today we're actually getting snow on the ground!  Hopefully it wont last long as we're right in the middle of calving now. :/  Anyway, other then that, it's just normal spring here, grain cleaning, calving, and mud...

Today, Dad was out cleaning grain but is on his way home now, Mom's taking a nap, Andrew's fixing a truck for somebody, Cora's babysitting, and I'm working on my school and playing World of Tanks on and off... :P

It just stopped snowing for now but it looks like we might get a little bit more later.  It should be pretty light though.  Dad just got home as well.  If you haven't guessed by now I'm kind of running out of things to talk about...

I'm loving my new graphics card, playing Agrar Simulator 2012 at max quality preset and getting 30 FPS... :)  It does everything I want it to, so I'm happy...  Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Flying! :D

Hey guys,
So it's been a little while sense I've wrote, so in that time we've had more calves born, got 5 of em on the ground I think, also had a cow with a prolapse last night so we had the vet come and sew her back up again... Yeah, that wasn't fun...

Two days ago, mom was doing a session on a guy and everybody else was outside when mom came out and said "Hey Jacob, wanna go on a airplane ride?"  Well, after making sure I heard her right, Andrew and I drove to Napoleon and got rides. :)

The coolest thing we did on the flight was I got to experience zero, and actually negative gravity!  It was pretty fun watching the dust levitate towards the ceiling... :P  We flew around for about 20 minutes, flew over our farm and everything. :)

Also during the time sense I last wrote, Dad and I went over to a CIH dealer in Wishek for parts, the BEK guys came and hooked up our fiber so now we got lots faster Internet, I bought a new graphics card for my PC (amazing deference in strength from my old one) and that's about it. :)

I'll talk to you all later, probably not as often as we're getting into farming season again. :) Jacob B.

A calf and more news

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot new here today, outside of one of my heifers was having trouble calving this morning so we got her in the barn, attempted to move her to another barn failed, took her back to the same barn, and then pulled the calf that was DOA... -_-

Other then that bit of fun, Mom; Cora; and Andrew just got back from the Homeschool convention last night.  They said they had a lot of fun at the convention this year again...

Other then that there really isn't much new around here, outside of a bit of snow that this nasty storm blew in...  Have to love a nice 35 MPH wind on a cold day... >.<  Yeah, that's North Dakota for you, always a storm...

So yeah, right now Dad is working on tax work, Mom is doing a session or sleeping (or both), Cora is babysitting, Andrew is playing World of Tanks, and I was too but Mom told me to get to school sooo... :P  Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Update...

Hey guys,
Not a lot new around here right now, other then the snow melting...  Dad and I have been working on some shelves for the back of the shop, along with cleaning the back of the shop so we can put up the shelves... >.<

Called up to the Polaris dealer this morning to check on my snowmobile, and they haven't got it in the shop yet, so nobody knows what's going on with it yet.  I suppose by the time it's fixed the snow will be gone... >.<

The farmers are all trying to figure out what to plant in the new year, and this farm is no exception.  We're still debating on how much corn to put in...  Let's hope Dad calls it right... :)

Still playing World of Tanks very regular, and having a lot of fun on it too.  Would be cool to play with some more friends if you ever want to get it...  Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Tank! O.O

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot new here, our loan officer came out to the farm this morning for signatures on the year's operating loan, and Mom and I went over to Dawson to pick up the Azure order this morning as well.

Right now, Dad is out in the shop, Mom is doing a session, Cora is babysitting, Andrew is probably talking with friends, seeing as he's at their house, and I'm still doing my school work, along with reading about tanks...

While we were in Dawson this morning, we had a bit of extra time on our hands, so I got to look at the tank on display at the veterans building.  Turns out it was a M60A3 Patton: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M60A3_Tank

So yeah, fun little machine... :P  I wish I could drive one, but whatever...  Not much else to write about here, so I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.  Oh, and if you don't want to read the article, that tank was more used in the 'nam and more recent wars and was not used in WWII, as the delivered date implies...

Snow! :D

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot going on here today, Dad and Mom went up to Bismarck this morning to work on some loan paperwork and to do other odds and ends in town, Andrew went up to our friends place with the animals this morning as well.

Other then that, not much going on here, Cora's in the kitchen, and I'm working on my big ol school list...  I just got called to lunch, so I'll finish this post in a little bit...  I hope lunch is good, I skipped breakfast... O.O

So, I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of the day, but my school list is still pretty long, so that will keep my busy for a while.   Which is good because about now I tend to get random, lol.

We got a little bit of snow last night, not as much as I would have liked, but still, every bit helps the growing season...  Anyway, I'm going to go for now, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Monday, March 4, 2013

WoT...

Hey guys,
So not a whole lot going on here right now, just working on cleaning up the back of the shop a little bit, and I'm still tied down with school all the time, so yeah, condition normal here...

Today we got one of Cora's heifers in the chute and PG'd her, as we are going to sell her and a few other calves to some friends.  I think Andrew is planning on taking the animals up to their place tomorrow...

Lately Andrew and I have started playing World of Tanks, which is a very fun free MMO game where you drive old WWII tanks in 15-tank-teams trying to destroy all enemy tanks on their 15-tank-team...

It's a whole lot of fun and it's free. If anybody wants to check it out go to www.worldoftanks.com and you can download it from there.  Anyway, time to go again, so until next time, Jacob B/

The Farm is Changing...

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot going on here, I got my Land Rover in the shop this morning to investigate a few things, and we also loaded out a load of wheat this morning, as we sold a couple loads a while ago... :)

Over lunch today Dad and Mom got into a bit of a discussion about what we're going to be doing on the farm this coming growing year, and what I had suspected for a while was definitely confirmed.  We are leaving organics this year.

That's right, leaving organics.  Personally I think Dad is doing the right thing, we definitely need to change something big in our operation, this sure isn't working...  We have been watching Arden Anderson's course on biological farming, so we are going to try to go that way eventually...

So yeah, people here are going to be getting the farming itch again soon, as all the snow is leaving.  Personally I wouldn't mind if the snow would stay on for another half month or so, but nature must take it's course.  Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Sled Problems... -_-

Hey guys,
So yesterday Mom; Cora; Andrew and I went up to Bismarck to run errands, and I also took my snowmobile to the Polairs dealer to have them reflash the ECU to the correct injector codes because I had put different injectors in it.

Well, they reflashed the ECU, and he said it wasn't doing anything different, so I left it up at the dealership so that they can work on it and try to figure out whats going on... Let's hope it won't cost me too much... :/

So yeah, I figure that by the time they figure out what's wrong and I get it fixed all the snow will be gone and I'll have to wait till next year. --___--  Anyway, we didn't do a whole lot in town, ran around to thrift shops and dollar stores and all around the town stuff...

Spring is coming pretty fast, so I won't be writing as much sometime in the near future, as farming will be keeping me busy... :)  Anyways, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Windy!

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot going on here, Dad and Mom are still coughing and not feeling the best, Cora's babysitting for the neighbors, Andrew's looking at snowmobiles on bisman, and I'm doing school...

Andrew's looking at snowmobiles because he's got a guy that will probably buy his John Deere sled tomorrow...  I offered to sell him mine, but he said I would want too much... :P  I'm sure he wouldn't mind driving it though... ;)

Kind of nasty outside today, kind of a snower and blower day today.  It isn't snowing too much, but the wind has got a bit of a nasty bite to it.  At least I didn't have to go out to chores this morning... >:D

We're going to be selling the calves here this Thursday, hoping and praying the prices are good.   We do have a nice looking batch of calves this year though, so we should get a good price. :)  Well, I got to go, so I'll talk to you all later. Jacob B.

randomness...

Hey guys,
Not much new here today, Andrew and Mom went up to Bismarck for some committe hearings of bills going through the legislature, Cora's babysitting, Dad's feeding cows, and I'm doing my school... :/

Mom, Cora and a freind are going to go to a self defense class in Bismarck tonight, and throug Sunday I think.  They claim some pretty impressive moves, so we'll have a nice rough'n'tumble match afterwards. :P (just kiddin)

Andrew got his pickup back from the body shop the other day, looks just fine again. :)  I just realized that at this stage, I just start randomly rambling and saying stuff just for a filler, lol.  I guess I'm not a writer...

Anyway, kind of looking forward to spring and farming again.  I kind of get bored over the winter... :/  Well, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

It's snowing!

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot going on here today, just sitting inside avoiding the snowstorm outside, doing school, and goofing off at the same time. :P  Mom is with a client at the moment, so she told me to work on school... *sigh*

Yesterday, I was home alone most of the day, Mom and Andrew went up to Bismarck, Andrew got his RAM back from the body shop (looks good as new now:)), Cora went babysitting, and Dad went to haul corn for a guy...

I'm still stumped with my snowmobile, but I'm going to order a couple of exhaust gaskets today, and then put it all back together and try to trace the problem back from there.  If you guys have any idea why it wouldn't idle or start right let me know, lol.

When I get it back together, I'm going to pull a compression test.  Andrew said that that side was a little low before, so that would make it not run on the one side at idle...  Anyway, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.

Monday, February 11, 2013

Update

Hey guys,
Not a whole lot new here, just the normal farm life during winter...  Our family has been battling a cold for a while now, and it's getting quite annoying, but most of us are still feeling good enough to work like normal, with just a annoying cough...

I've gotten my snowmobile back together now, and took it for a little ride once, but it doesn't want to start or idle right.  It appears to only run on 1 cylinder at idle until you run it up to about 2000 RPM when it runs fine.

Yeah, us guys are all confused on that one. :(  Andrew's been keeping busy with another pickup he got recently, Cora's been babysitting a lot, Dad's been trucking grain pretty regular now, and Mom's still got her clients...

Other then all that, we haven't done a whole lot lately, just been keeping busy in the shop, playing ping pong and working some of the time... :P  Anyway, it's time for me to go, so I'll TTYL, Jacob B. :)

Hogan's Hero's :)

Hey guys,
Just to let you all know, this is an assignment from Mom, not something I actually thought I'd sit down and write about.  Anyway, here goes, my favorite character from the TV show, Hogan's Hero's. :)

If I had to pick one character to be my favorite, I would have to say Newkirk, just because he's always funny and willing to do something dangerous for his country, although I do like all of the characters in the show.

Here's what Wikipedia says about the actor: "Richard Dawson (born Colin Lionel Emm; November 20, 1932 – June 2, 2012) was an English-born American actor and comedian, and a game show host and panelist in the United States.
Dawson was well known for playing Corporal Peter Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes, being the original host of the Family Feud game show from 1976–1985 and 1994–1995, and a regular panelist on the 1970s version of Match Game on CBS from 1973 to 1978. After a successful career in British television and cinema, Dawson moved to Los Angeles. In 1984, he became an American citizen while remaining a British subject.
In 2012, Dawson died of complications from esophageal cancer. He is buried at Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles."

^ Now there's a talented man!  Just got my parts order for my sled, so I'm going to go start bolting the engine back in that in a few minutes, so I'll talk to you all later.
Jacob. :)

Not Much New...

Hey guys,
Long time no write again, I've been busy with working on my sled, and having a party all of the past week almost, lol.  I'm still waiting for parts for my snowmobile yet, but when 1 part gets here we can start putting the engine back in it.... Yeah, long project... :(

Anyway, today, I'm really not sure what we're going to be doing.  Andrew's going to be working on his latest project that he bought the other day, a '05 F-250; Dad's probably going to help him, Mom's got sessions, don't know about Cora, and I've got school, but that's fine cause I couldn't work on the sled anyway.......

Other then that, not a whole lot new here, we all went up to Dad's parents place for Christmas, We bought 45 new cows and I bought 3 for myself out of that bunch, I've stuck more cash into the sled, yeah, everything's about normal... :P

Also, for everybody sitting there wondering "how much does he have into that dumb sled anyway", it's roughly $2500 with a few more parts to order, but not too much yet... I'll get you some pictures when I get it done. ;)

Well, I'll talk to you all later, Jacob B.
